“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” [Psalm 119:18]
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.” [Ephesians 1:18]
“Oh, if God would open our eyes and let us see what these things are. That door to the eye is in the heart. It ain't what you see with your eye. That isn't seeing; that's looking. Jesus said to Nicodemus, "Except a man be borned again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." You don't see it with your eyes; you see it with your understanding. You look with your eyes and understand with your heart. So the door of your eyes is in your heart, because it's a door of understanding. "Oh, I understand that Jesus said He would do that in the last day. I understand that these things are the sign of God." Then how different. How it becomes a reality to you. How things change if our eyes are open. He's with you all the time. He helps you. He's standing at your door daily, but you don't recognize it.” [I Stand At The Door And Knock, Jeffersonville Indiana, 57-1208]
“If you're a genuine son, you'll listen to your daddy. And a genuine son or daughter of God takes God's Word first. I don't care what anybody else says about it, they take God's Word first. "There's poison in the cup," and they believe it. Having faith in all His Word, His Seeds, brought a Eden of holiness, love, and Eternal Life. That's what God's Eden produced, holiness. And it brought an Eden of holiness, of love, understanding, perfection, and Eternal Life. That's what God is planting, His Word, His Seed. That's what His Church will be at the end; It will be the same thing.” [Satan's Eden, Jeffersonville Indiana, 65-0829]
“But when the promise drew nigh, they thought, surely, that they would understand. Usually Satan works right in there with their understanding, and makes them dull of understanding. And there they miss God nine times out of ten. But God had His promise there. Now, then when Moses went down to deliver them, why, they refused him, rejected him. And it cost them forty years more suffering. Isn't that right? Forty years more suffering. Moses run to the backside of the desert, of course. And after while, was finally called again of God when the people begin to groaning and crying. And then this same Moses, that they rejected and accept Pharaoh yet as their leader, this same Moses, God sent back to them to be a leader and have jurisdiction over them.” [Moses, Houston TX, 50-0110E]
"And he that heareth My Word," not just makes out, not hear It with his ears, but, "understand It." Anybody can hear It; a prostitute can hear It and remain a prostitute; see, a drunkard can hear It; a liar can hear It and still remain a liar. But, "He that understandeth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, has everlasting Life." There you are, see. And no man can do that except God foreordained him. Jesus said, "No man can come to Me, except My Father draws him, and all the Father has given Me will come to Me." Amen. It's all the sovereignty and foreknowledge of God. He lives alone and there's nobody tells Him what to do.” [Satan's Eden, Jeffersonville Indiana, 65-0829]
“It's the Devil's business to keep you blocked off from That, keep you blinded. He can just let you be blinded, that's, see, you don't know where you're going then. A man that's blind cannot tell where he is going, he's got to seek the understanding from somebody who can see. Until we can understand, somebody has got to tell us what's Truth. And Christ died for you, and you are transplanted from the world into Christ. And everything you have need of is right in you, by the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Isn't that right? Now the only thing you have to do is just start drinking from That.” [One In A Million, Los Angeles CA ,65-0424]
“So when a person says they have the Holy Ghost, and accept something contrary to the Word, it shows that ain't the genuine Holy Ghost they got. See? It may be a ghost, I wouldn't dispute that, but it--it isn't the Holy Ghost of Christ. Now, you know, many times, they take one another's spirits; and so that might point, in like a group of man, to a certain thing, but it won't--it won't point to Christ. But the Holy Spirit always points to Christ, and Christ is the Word. We see this so plainly in the Bible. Maybe I might be wrong, but, in my thinking, but I don't think so; because, that, this: "Lean not to your own understanding of things." If you lean to your own understanding, then you're bound to get off of the right road. You can't lean to anyone else's understanding, when it comes to Life. To find Life, you've got to lean to the Word. That's Life.” [Lean Not Unto Thy Own Understanding, Phoenix AZ, 65-0120]
“After His resurrection, there was some men, one of them's name was Cleopas and his friend was on their journey back down the road, going back to their old task again. And as they went down along the road, a Stranger come out, a Man that they had walked with for three and a half years, walked, dodged every cobblestone down along that rough road if you ever walked it. Went around every bend, shook hands with Him, and was blind and didn't know Him until He got them down to Emmaus, got on the inside of the room with them, and then He opened their eyes. And they recognized that it was the Lord. Oh, as soon as their eyes were opened, it taken the whole Sabbath day to journey, they were back over there just in a few minutes. When your eyes come open, you go to work for God right quick. You don't worry no more. You just go to work. On the inside of the heart is the eyes, the eyes of understanding.” [The Door Inside The Door, South Bend IN, 58-0209E]
“Do you believe it? Then let us raise our hands up to Him, them that's able, like this. Now, real reverent, now you repeat this prayer after me. Almighty God, Creator of heavens and earth, Author of Everlasting Life, Giver of every good gift, I now thank Thee for opening my understanding; I now believe, that in my heart, I am thoroughly convinced that Jesus Christ Thy Son is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I now accept Him as my Healer. I open my heart. I open the door of faith. I surrender all my faith to Thee. Be Lord of my faith. I receive You now.” [The Door Of The Door, Newark NJ, 57-1212]
