“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.” [Philippians 1:20]
“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.” [Psalm 62:5]
“For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,” [Luke 2:30]
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” [Romans 8:19]
That's the reason today that people don't see the things that they should see, the mysteries of God being unfolded, because they're not looking for it. God only reveals Himself to those who will let Him, and expecting Him. Oh, have you noticed in the last two or three nights of service, that the Holy Spirit has brought us to that place each night? The expectancy, somebody who's being led, and expecting something to happen... The thing of it is, we're not expecting enough. If the people here tonight that's sick and afflicted come with expectations of going home well, you'll go home well. If you here tonight, has never received the baptism of the Holy Spirit... Oh, it may be mysterious to you. But as long as God's Word teaches it, that's enough. God said so, and that settles it.” [59-0411e, Watching His Star, Los Angeles CA]
“Now, fear has no valuation in it, none whatever. It's perfectly endless, it doesn't--it hasn't got one good thing about it. If I was to be shot in the morning, was going to be shot, what good would it do to have fear? What good would it do me? You say, "Well, what good would faith do you?" Faith could deliver me. But fear won't help me a bit. You just get yourself all worked up and more nervous than ever when it comes time for the gun to fire. So let's have faith. Faith could deliver me, but if it doesn't, what good would fear do anyhow? Just stay right with faith and hold on to it. Take God's promise and remain with God.” [61-0207 Expectation, Long Beach CA]
“Now, expectation, it has to be built upon something that got a faith behind it. Because if you're expecting something is because something's been promised or some way like that. So if you want to have real expectations it must be built upon THUS SAITH THE LORD. Look at Noah. It was... Sometimes God asked you to do things that's ridiculous to your own human thinking. Now, remember, if you're going to enter this revival trying to figure out something, you might as well enter out to begin with, 'cause you can't do it. Remember, God does not know man by--or God... Man does not know God, rather, by his head. He knows Him by his heart. In the garden of Eden, why, man was divided between God and Satan. Satan took his head; God took his heart. With his intellectuals he tries to reason out things, but by faith in his heart through God will make him believe things that reason won't even vindicate. "For it's the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." See, it's... He's got to believe God's Word.” [61-0207 Expectation, Long Beach CA]
“Now, when Noah was asked to build an ark by God, why he moved with fear, knowing... Could you imagine what the critics was saying? Noah was expecting it to rain, because God said it was going to rain. Now, it never had rained on the earth. Could you imagine the critics saying, "Oh, look, poor old fellow's kinda little off at his head. But he said... "Where's that rain at Noah? Tell me where it's at; I don't see any of it up there. There--there's no rain from up there, never has been, never will be." But Noah said, "God said so. That settles it. If God said so, He can create rain up there if He wanted to." So he was expecting it to rain, so he made preparations for the rain. Oh, I like that. Oh, make preparations as long as you hear God's Word, then make preparations for it to happen and wait under expectation. Oh, that makes me start feeling religious to begin with. See? To think that... God said so, then make--be expecting it.” [61-0207 Expectation, Long Beach CA]
“And if you come expecting to get help from God, God will meet your expectancy. He always does. Wherever you go, whatever you do, what you expect brings your faith. If you come saying, "Well, there's nothing to it," that's just the way you'll go back home, with nothing to it. If you come tonight saying, "Well, if I don't get prayed for, I'll go home and won't be healed," that's just the way you'll go. If you come here tonight saying, "I come for one sole purpose, that is to contact Christ for my body or my soul," you'll go home just as happy as you can be, for you'll contact Him. Now, no matter what the opposition looks like, Christ is the answer. Faith brings Christ. Notice, could you remember? Eighty years old, white beard, white hair, and yet the old man went around telling people that he wasn't going to die until he seen the Lord's Christ. What a beautiful picture of faith. Faith knows no defeat. Faith is perfect. Faith brings things when there is no things to be brought. Faith creates. Faith takes doubt away, takes negative and makes positive. How beautiful. The old man had a basis for faith. Faith is not mythical, something mentally worked up, it's an absolutely, fundamental result that happens in a persons heart. When faith is appropriated, then it is something in the person's heart. But it can't be based on, say, "Well, go touch a tree and you'll get well," or--or, "Pray to the--the post." It's got to have a foundation.” [53-1108e, Expectancy, Owensboro KY]
“But "expectancy," that's a great thing, to expect something. You usually get what you expect. Some people come to the meeting and say, "Well, I didn't--didn't expect to get anything out of it." Well, they won't. But those who expect to get something, God will give them their expectations, if they're doing it reverently and in the fear of God. Now, always to find out something first is to find whether it's the will of God or not. And then if it's the will of God, then your object--objective to it, and then your motive in doing it. If it's the will of God, and your objective is right, and your motive is right, it's got to happen. There's just no way to keep it from happening. So first find the will, if it's God's will. And then, what--what's your objective in doing it? What's...? If it's selfish, you'll--you'll never--you'll--you'll never get it done, that's all. It's got to be real clean and clear before God or it just won't happen. That's all. It's... You got to always keep that on your mind, that it's got to be clean and clear. Your cups must be clean and clear before God or God cannot work with you.” [61-0308 Expectations, Richmond VA
“Now notice, closely. They--they were expecting, these people were, to see God. They had an expectation in their heart to see those things happen, and God granted it to them. Now, you've got to desire it. David said in the Scripture, "When the deep calls to the deep... The noise of thy waterspout." Now, before there can be any--any deep to call in here, there has to be a deep out there first to make this deep in here call for it. See? “ [54-0220 Expectation, Wood River IL]
“Abraham, he didn't notice the well-watered land, for he lifted up his eyes and saw the tomorrow; for he'd inherit all things. The real Christian, today, lifts up his eyes and sees the promise of Christ: "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit all things; they shall inherit the earth." The real Christian, by faith, looks up and sees that. Call him what you want to, He lifted up his eyes, and when he did that, God said, "Abraham, walk through the land; she's all yours." By faith Abraham did this, the same faith that Moses had.” [58-0720M By Faith Moses, Jeffersonville IN]
